Off to Spain

I leave tomorrow to attend the international Sephardic music festival in Cordoba. I’ll be there for one week, and I’m also hitting some cities that I’ve visited before but love very much, including Toledo and Madrid. Re-read Michener’s chapter on Cordoba in Iberia in anticipation, and am packing a copy of Maria Rosa Menocal’s The Ornament of the World to read on the trip. I recently upgraded from my trusty but hopelessly outdated Canon 20D to the spiffy new Canon 60D and acquired a snazzy new lens, to boot. Can’t wait to shoot some HDR photography of these incredible ancient cities.

I also published a story on Merida and the Yucatan last month for TCD Traveler.

Finally, we’re about to launch a new radio travel segment on NPR affiliate WUWM’s Lake Effect where I am a regular contributor. Each segment I will talk about a different world travel destination, often joined by one of our talented contributing travel writers.
